Larne 6-1 Bryansburn Rangers
07 Jan 2012

LARNE hit half a dozen goals to secure their place in the last sixteen of the Coca Cola Intermediate Cup, with a 6-1 win against Bryansburn Rangers at Inver Park on Saturday.

However, it was Bryansburn who enjoyed the better start to the game and scored the first goal when Paraschivescu headed in from a corner.

Larne forced a fine double save from McPeake when Dom Melly drove a 30 yard shot at goal, and Maguire somehow saw his follow up tipped away by the Rangers keeper.

Shortly afterwards the comeback began and Gary Workman was at the centre of it. His well delivered corner was headed in by Sencer Yilmaz to level the scores on the half hour.

A minute later, Workman turned goal scorer when he netted an audacious volley from the right hand touchline.

The teenage midfielder doubled his tally ten minutes later, when he latched on to a long ball and shot across the keeper decisively.

The game was made safe five minutes into the second period. Sencer Yilmaz nodded in his second goal of the game, this time from an Arron Lemon corner.

The big striker claimed his first hat trick in Larne colours just two minutes later. A free kick crossed into the box was deflected out to the edge of the area, and Yilmaz clipped an accurate shot in off the cross bar.

The Inver Reds really started to move the ball around the pitch very well, as the visitors lost a bit of heart.

However, the sixth goal didn’t come until 79 minutes were on the clock. Paul Maguire was at the head of a queue of Larne players who sprung the off side trap, and the finish was simple for Larne top scorer for his sixteenth of the season.

It is another cup assignment for Larne next Saturday as they travel to Dungannon Swifts in the fifth round of the JJB Sports Irish Cup. The match will kick off at 3pm.
